Introducing the Vortex II Series Precision Single Mode Finely-Tuned Lasers. The New Focus engineering team was asked to provide the next level of laser performance that would help the atomic spectroscopy community and others with their need for low frequency jitter and drift in a mode hop-free tunable laser. The technical challenge came down to stiff rotational motion without translation. Sub-nanometer errors are precluded if we were to avoid frequency jitter and mode hopping. It was under this mandate that Star-Flex motion actuation and the patent-pending technique of magnetic damping were born. The Vortex II is a third generation design and has its roots in finite element and thermal analyses and our award-winning experience designing stable, robust lasers. We now offer a new laser that is strongly resistant to acoustical and mechanical perturbations. So whether you are running open-loop or frequency locking your Vortex II, you will get the most stable performance available.
The Vortex II comes in many popular and a few esoteric wavelengths. The Vortex II laser head is controlled and powered by our low-noise Vortex 6000 Controller. Prices shown are for complete systems and include the Controller. Heads and controllers may be purchased separately.
